Case study

57 files. Two shoot days. Delivered overnight.

A documentary production came to us with two days of multi-channel field recordings — HVAC hum on interior dialogue, RF clipping on exterior lavs, and a tight post schedule. Location sound that fought back. Festival-spec input for the work they actually made.

The problem

58 BWF files, 3 to 7 channels each. Interior scenes recorded in a location with continuous fan noise. Exterior lav microphones with RF interference causing hard clipping on dialogue. The mixer stayed on the job; Premix was the prep pipeline, not a substitute for a dialogue editor or re-recording mixer.

The process

Every channel was analyzed and assigned a repair chain. Interior channels received de-hum and denoise. Exterior lavs were de-clipped first, then denoised — order matters. One file was flagged silent and skipped. The mixer stayed on the job. Premix ran overnight on Lemonwater’s worker.

The result

57 files returned as labeled ISOs plus an editorial-ready reference stereo at −18 LUFS integrated / −1 dBTP — prep for the cutting room, not a printmaster. Originals in the packet. Turnaround: under 24 hours from upload to delivery.
